windshield washer again
« on: December 10, 2007, 06:54:31 pm »
my washer pump doesn't, i have delay wipers with the separate pump,
there's constant power at the 2 pin connector to the pump,
is this normal or is the switch busted too?
do i have to pull the steering wheel to replace the switch?

Unplug the connector at the pump. Do you have 12volts at both sides of the connector with it unplugged or were you backprobing it?

looks like i fried the delay module fooling around with my test light at the pump connector.
anyway to repeat; with the connector unpluged from the washer pump thats in back of the washer fluid reservoir, and with the ignition on there is constant power on only one of the pins in the 2 pin connector. operating the washer or wiper switch doesn't affect it.
is this normal? if it is then the washer switch goes to ground right?
i think the pump is gone cause i put temporary power to it both ways and its no go.

Is your pump in the washer bottle or integral in the motor? What is the year make model of your truck?

For a 1987 You should have a white wire with B+ with the key on and a pink wire which is grounded by the switch when you activate it. If you take a test light from the B+ battery post to the pink wire and activate the switch to wash it should light up. If it does replace the pump
