He didn't take the pad off the dash, he took the padding off of the pad as in there is no foam on there.  The pads were different and changed 3 times during the run.    The underlying metal structure of all 73-87(91) trucks are identical.

OK...Thanks Capt. Kaos

That is where the difference is then, Mine has been stripped to bare metal, then coated with Herculiner.

truck looks great, totally different direction than most but thats what makes it cool.
I was wondering if that peel and seal stuff worked for the sound deadening and where did you find that stuff?

Chevy fan:
Thanks...Can't give you a definate answer on wether the peel-n-seal works or not cause, as you can see in the pics, I still haven't been able to take the truck down the interstate yet.(or finish the stereo system)

I got it @ Lowes for 15.00 and change per roll, Think I have 3 rolls in it soo far. I know I'm going to need 1 if not 2 more rolls to do inside the doors with.

Pretty sure it is going to work just fine for me, the truck already sounds a lot less "Hollow" as it is....

Let me know If I can help you with anything...

Ahh, okay. I thought his was the metal frame underneath but it's the dash pad with out the pad part. Now I see the difference.

Where can I get a carpet kit from for cheap?

I'm not too far from being ready to button up the inside and have been considering putting in black carpet in. Any shared experiences would be great to hear about.

Thanks.

Carpet from   is great...the carpet from JCWhitney blows. I returned mine and got a refund. I made the UPS guy wait while I took it out of the box and layed it out. It didn't fit the trans hump right. I think they sent me cutpile for a 4x4 with the bigger tunnel. Anywho...the one from   actually looks like high quality OEM replacement stuff. I have heard several things about the high quality of the carpet from Classic Industries, also. I haven't bought any carpet yet because when I got the refund from JCWhitney I found out my wife was pregnant and went out and bought a crib! The baby is 8 months old now and still, no carpet. Maybe when that b.s federal check comes out to help stimulate the economy i'll use some of it to stimulate my 74!

I got mine from Chris (Captkaos) on this site.  GREAT quality and cheap.  Also, it helps support this site. ;D  I believe it is ACC carpet.

I used an   carpet on my blue truck. I don't think you had them for sale here then. I only saw the rubber mats. Anyway mine fit like crap over the trans tunnel.
