My 78 k10 restoration
«

ok last year i started this thread and project and it never got where i wanted it to, because of the engine and the spot the truck was in and not having any shelter, so i just kept posting in different places because i did not know if i was going to restore it or not. i put a new fender on that i got from a member on here but things did not work out. I also redone the interior but ended up tearing it back out because of the floor, rockers and kick panels, also started on the suspension last year because of leaf spring hangers and rust and ended up putting it back together because i got a carport and had to move the truck but anyway to make a long story short i got the carport up here, the truck and my 383 all in one place now i am trying to bust a rock out so i can put up a retaining wall and get back on the truck.
p.s If you are wondering what this link is i created a site last year and posted it on here of the truck but i will have plenty of pics along the way

i know most of you have seen my truck already but for the ones that have not and for me here you go it was not bad looking the fenders was pretty rusty and that was actually the only rust that was on the body besides the rockers and cab corners now the interior it just looked like a old work truck before i redone it but i made mistake when i put carpet down i did not pull up the rubber mat untill later and when i did all i found was rust and holes so i ended up stripping it
old and dirty
few interior rebuild pics

ok this is where i am at right now i found out that my cab is from a 2wd drive and somebody cut a hump out of a 4x4 and riveted and welded it to the floor so now i have to cut it back out because it is rusting the whole area around it. So what would be the best tools to use for this job?

ok well it has been a interesting week with my 383 or so called 383
but other then that i have got a lot done, i got the motor out, which was a 305 and the gas lines, brake lines, supension, axels. One thing on the front axel, never unbolt the tie rods never, i did and the tires went flop lol but the frame is stripped except I need to remove the rear leaf spring hangers and a few other odds and ends and then i need to get it sand blasted and also i had a heck of a time with the cherry picker on dirt. I will have more pics soon

hey what is the best way to get the front and rear hangers off? i have heard with a torch and make it cherry red and take a chisel and hammer and knock the rivet off. will one from a lowes work good?

Didn't we go through the spring hanger thing about a year ago?
I hear ya about the cherry picker on dirt, if the gravel/dirt is level you could try laying down a few sheets of plywood. (it helps some)
You don't "need" a torch for the spring hangers. What I did was grind off the head of the rivet, then drive the rest out with a beater and a punch.
I had no need to do the fronts, but I don't imagine it's much (if any) different.
You've come a long way since you got under cover.
