keeping up

what do you guys do to keep up with little rust spots showing up throught the paint on high wear spots like the bottom of the frame, inner fenders, and other spots like this?

Personally, I get rid of it. Cut it out, if it's surface rust either wire wheel it or sand blast it and treat it with some good rust preventative.

I agree with vile....you have to get rid of the rust or its going to come back every time...

what about "hammered" paints like rustoleum and kilz?  it says you can paint right over rust? what do you guys think? after prepping of course. Is this stuff thick kind of like a bed liner?

hammered paint is cool. It looks nice but not as a protectant over body panels. It basically purposely fish eyes. If you were to put that under something you were planning on top coating it's going to come out horendous.

i'm thinking about on the floor and underneath the truck. Is it thick?  would it help with soundproofing?

I used this stuff on my chassis and plan on using it in the cowl area and down the sides on the inside once i finish welding the firewall up.This stuff is good and is indeed strong but you gotta prep the metal big time or it will peel and flake off.
