my drug...

I have found that driving my truck is like drinking a tall cold one. I haven't tried drugs or anything, but as long as I have my truck, I don't have any reason to. Case in point: I go to bleed my brakes this afternoon (manual brakes, no power, was pumping them to stop). I got around to the passenger side front with my little 3/8 wrench, and low and behold there was a freakin' hex head bolt shoved into the bleeder valve's rightful home. I almost blew my top. After heading off to Advance (I no longer work for AutoZone, and Advance is closer) I get to talking with the old guy behind the counter who happened to be the closing manager. He heard my story about why I needed a new one and said instead of spending 4 dollars, I should spend 12 and just go ahead and replace the caliper since that bolt probably screwed up the taper in the hole where the bleeder goes. I took his advice, bled the brakes with the help of my loving wife (who also likes to help drop engines in and swears she can beat me in a "fastest oil change" race), and then took her for a nice little ride down the highway near my house. Along the way, I came up on this old guy in an early 90's LT1 'vette. I thought about it and said screw it, because i've got a bored/stroked '69 vette motor, so it's still kinda fair considering his car ways half what my longbed does. I got him by 3 car lenghts! That was the best high ever! It's not just the racing and what not, but just driving something you put your money, blood, sweat, and tears into and did all the wrenching on yourself feels good! Amen?

Why is it that some one can put the time in to doing a hack job but they can never find the time or effort to get a job and go to the auto parts store? iv never seen so many hack jobs till i got involved with 73-87 trucks...I mean i no there trucks and many believe you should drive em hard and put them away wet...But come on!
I totally relate about the drug thing man...Nothing like building something up and have it prove its self in some good old drag racing!

Sounds good, but if my wife could beat me in oil changes I would never tell.

When I first got my truck I worked for a trucking co. I would spend money on it to make it look nice and it was also my daily driver I had a 4" lift with 33" tires nice rims always clean and never 4wheeled in the mud (daily driver remeber) any way always on payday the other guys would want to go to the bars and party I would always say no cause I had to save money then by monday they were broke and had nothing to show for there paychecks the would ask how it was we all worked the same place yet I had the nicest truck they always thought I was doing something more but I just didn't party with my money like they did so I say my truck is my HIGH. And at the end of the day I have something to show for it not a hangover or an arrest for something stupid.

yeah buddy, melt me a big block in a spoon and shoot me up. my girlfriend thinks i need to go to chevyholics anonymous. I'm all like "just one more hit". since my truck has been outta commision for about 6 years I've been kinda jonesin to get it back on the road. but, the good news is that I'm workin on gettin her fat rump up and runnin. i hear ya on the blowin money thing. i went to the casino this past weekend and lost like $200(extra money that was going to be for the truck) and on my last $10 i won it all back. then the next day i blew it all on the slug. my girlfriend was disappointed when she heard i spent it all on my 83. but was fine when she was loosing all my money at the casino.
