fuel filter swap caused a problem?
«

I changed the fuel filter in my 83' K-30 WITH 94' 350 carb engine this fall, haven't driven it for a couple months, and it spits, and sputters, like its running out of gas. cleaned/rebuilt the carb, but still there, maybe a little worse, idles good, cruises good, but a throttle, spits and sputters, and nearly dies. fuel pump seems fine. new cap/rotor, check the timing only 3 degrees btdc, distributor/ advance canister hits the manifold ? they put the distributor and manifold from the 83' 350 on. Any help, would save some hair. thanks

Do you have good fuel volume at the carburetor? Did you install the filter correctly?

yes and yes, checked filter install, opening points out, pump pulls 12" vacuum.

Clarify this sentence
Quote
but a throttle, spits and sputters, and nearly dies
Are you saying it runs good accept when you depress the accelerator?

yes, it idles good, as you press down the gas its pretty smooth, but as soon as you really start to accelerate it starts sputtering spitting trying to backfire a little, until you let off then you can start cruising again, until you get back into it. from a dead start, it starts off good until you really start getting into, again, with sputtering. The truck always seem like it would bog down (little power) at top end. like the four barrel wasn't kick'in.

Sounds lean... Make sure no vacuum leaks, no kinked fuel lines. If OK check your float settings or for debris in the carb

Ya, i'm getting ready to do it.. can you tell me if the distributor was installed in the exhaust side of TDC insted of the intake. would it cause this top-end loss of power? and the distributor, not being able to turn anymore without hitting the advance canister ?..

Took it apart (carb) didn't see anything wrong, put it back on, little gas, started right-up, idles good, back up take off, easy on the gas, smooth cruise, start giving it more gas, and starts to stumble, clears up a little, then really starts stumbling, bogging down, l;et off the gas, it smooths, then give more gas, and then spits sputters and about quits.
Yep, i have a timing light, its set at 3 degrees BTDC, and cant set it to 4 degrees BTDC, because the advance can. hits the manifold.

Hey Vile, I am back. swapped out the carb and fuel pump. checked for vacuum leaks. got the timing set 8 degress BTDC. Truck idles great, part throttle and cruising speed perfect. But, under hard acceleration and heavy load, the truck starts bogging down and wont pull, like a motorcycle hitting redline, what gives. vacuum is great 21 in. steady. Lost! An help would be VERY APPRECIATED
