Trade for my car?
« on: March 11, 2008, 12:59:40 am »
I got a call today the guy wants to trade me this for my Camaro. What do you guys think?

My Camaro in case you don't remember it.

I am thinking no, but if it is a 383 it would be a good motor for a truck. Plus It might be fun to drive in the mean time!

I was gonna say "no" too until I saw your camaro only had a 3.4 in it.  If it was a v8 I would keep the car.  It seems like a fair swap, and you could pull the motor and find a donor 350 to throw in it and sell it for $1500 any day.  (I may even have one I could sell you cheap in a year or so, wink-wink) :)

When he first offered it I said no. then he told me the motor. I asked what it had for axles, he said he didn't know. Then I checked it out on Craigslist and it was 2 wheel drive. If it was 4x4 I would be all over it even though I am not a big S 10 fan. I am leaning toward no but I might still go check it out in person.

If it had a 3.8 in it I would have done the V8 swap when I did the motor. The 3.4 is an overgrown 2.8. I didn't want to screw around swapping the trans etc.

I would go for the blazer. with your camaro having so many miles and only being a 6 cyl it isnt exactly highly sought after.

The only part of the Camaro that has nigh miles is the body, and rearend. Pretty rare because they are useless 2 wheel drive. I haven't heard back from the guy, he was supposed to call me back. I am still leaning toward no.

Blazin,
the way prices are on fuel i say keep the camaro and use it as a everyday ride while you keep the trucks as your toys/2nd vehicle, today i seen a few stations at the pumps for diesel at 4.00-4.19 a gallon. So gas isnt far behind at 3.25 a gallon.

thanks

I have a 91 Camry that gets 28 + to the gallon, & a 92 Lumina AVP van that gets 19 + even loaded up with all my carpentry / handy man tools. The camaro only gets about 20 to the gallon. Got another guy interested in a trade for this.
