Inexpensive Home Security System

1. Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's work boots, used, size
14-16.
 
2. Place them on your front porch, along with a copy of Guns & Ammo
Magazine.
 
3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine.
 
4. Leave a note on your door that reads:
 
Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim:
I went for more shotgun shells and to pick my check up from the
slaughterhouse. I should be back in an hour. Don't mess with the Pit
Bulls--don't know what got into them, but they attacked the mailman this
morning and messed him up real bad. I don't think Killer took part in it
but
it was hard to tell from all the blood. Anyway, I locked all four of 'em in
the house.
 
Better wait out here on the porch.

nice! I'm actually doing a real security system. Motion sensors activate digital cameras and records everything plus I can view it on my pc if I'm away. Then of course if someone actually breaks in the basic alarm alerts the 5-0 I have too much to loose to not be protected when I'm not home.

The other security system is a double barrel 12 gage scatter gun tied to a chair with a string running through pulley back to the door knob!
 Problem is it only works on a door that opens out!

It should work both ways, you just need more pulleys and a longer piece of rope to do it the other way...

Sad thing is, My Grandfather used to tell me stories about my Great Grandma having a setup like this on their backdoor...  It was like that for when my Great Grandfather came home drunk from the bar, made it through the house, but decided to make a break for it out the back, while she was waiting up stairs with a frying pan or a rolling pin....   He would figure out she was upstairs waiting, so he would go out the back door and hide out in the barn(Ok so the Shotgun was only filled with rock salt, but still!!!)
