I don't know what the history is of the truck, but for $6000 that is a pretty good deal if you can buy it back for $500.

$6000.00! C'mon man, gimme a break!  No parts available?  totaled for that price and reason.  Did not accept their offer.. will be sending pics, and receipts for purchase of truck to a middle person, trying to get more for it, and find out how much for buy back.  But, I have no place to store truck till I find parts, so I guess it will go to boneyard :'( :'( or auction resale.  I am so heartbroken and they are moving it further away from me to another yard that doesn't charge for storage for them, it will be 45 miles from me instead of 15 miles. :(. I told the adjuster about catalogs I have with all parts in it, he didn't appear to care.  So Long Ms. Blue, I'm sure gonna miss ya......... :'(

If they give you $6000.00 less the buy back amount, I'm sure you could get all the parts you need and a body shop to spray the front end for you. That is if you buy the parts yourself and tear it all apart and put it back together.

I have done autobody and frame repair for 42 years and my body does not want to contort to those kind of positions anymore, I have no cartiledge left in my knees, a nasty belly hernia, and spine is twisted in two places.  Even if I could fix the truck I would be so sore I wouldn't move for two days.  I have osteoarthritis severly in both knees, that means it is degenerative, never gonna get better.  I am medically retired, and still fightingSoc.Sec. disability.  My lawyer told me that there is a two year backlog on disability claaims in Michigan.  I just saw an older dodge pickup for sale in the hood, will have to check it out tomorrow.  I used to own a 1971 D-100 that I sold with 399,000 miles on it, it had a 225cui. slant six in it.  Bullet proof motor.

i don't mean to be nosey, but please update/explain the current situation----i am interested in insurance matters and will be starting a few posts of my own pertaining to the topic of insurance.

a) i don't understand the $6000 deal?

b)personally, assuming the alignment was unaffected, i would just drive the truck as is for a while.  Possibly try to straighten the hood a little.  But that's just me.

Sorry about your Truck, hope your Mom&  Wife are doing better!  Beautiful Truck, and I would fight tooth & nail for her!! >:(  My first accident, the claims adjuster tried to only give me $500 for the "Book Value" of my car at the time, he told me to come up with receipts, and ads of cars similar, and he would adjust it from there....   I sent three weeks flooding his fax machine with all of my receipts, and ads of cars similar..  I was able to at least get it up to $2600, and get my car thrown back in for nothing..  Your truck is in much better condition, but they are still trying to give you "Kelly Blue Book" Value, which no car lot, auction house, loans specialist, mechanic, car buyer, or etc uses any more(Only Ins Co's) so the actual value can be off by alot....  Parts Availability wise, send him links to Chris Store,Year One, ,Classic Industries, and then some, give him plenty of ideas for how available parts are....

IF THAT US A NON CHARGE LOT THAT THEY ARE SENDING IT TO, LET THEM,BUT DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH IT, AND DO NOT SEND TO A SALVAGE YARD UNTIL YOU ARE DONE NEGOTIATING!!! Sorry for the yelling, but trust me, be serious about getting your truck back the way she was!!! Otherwise they will walk all over you, cause that's what they do!!!  When everything is said and done, you keep the truck if you want, then just pay whatever shop you want to fix it..  If they say they want their shop to look at it,agree, and then have atleast two other shops of your choice give you quotes on the repair....  When they agree to repair it, tell them that you want a check payment, and you will go to a shop of your choice(It's your truck, it's your choice as to who repairs it)...

The Dodge is a no go, just a rust bucket, and I am spoiled by vehicles I see in Fla.  And as for the home storage of the truck till I can fix it, I would have to take my fence down, remove the birdbath, take down clothes line, eliminate the picnic table, and move the bird feeder, and my wife says NO WAY!  However I have already sent pics ( 15 of them ) and copy of receipts when and what I purchased the truck for last June.  I also offered character witnesses of the condition of the truck ( pre - wreck ).   I do not know where the ins. adjuster got his parts prices from, if there are none available.  For whoever said they don't understand the $6,000.00 total out price.  They have to have a book or online price list of parts costs and labor costs.  A vehicle is totaled out when repairs are 80 - 85% of the vehicles fair value.  If you have a car worth $2000.00, and you wreck it, and to bring it back to pre accident condition, it is going to cost 1800.00 to fix, it is considered total out.  So I don't know where ins. got their parts prices from if none are available.  Sounds to me like someone else wants my truck very badly.  The frame is to the right about 8 inches, the sway bar is toast, now, I have done frame repairs with a redneck frame machine before, Maybe with 100 foot chain wrapped around big cottonwood out back will get wheel housings away from wheels enough, then I could drive it till I get all parts.  I am still going to fight for better buy-out.  I am not working and have no money, I have sold all the gold and silver I have found throught he years with my metal detector ( just to pay bills )  There is no extra in the budget to try and fix my truck.  If I can get it back really cheap, then it will be parted out or sold as is for parts.  I have a couple of good 'ol boys who are very interested in it locally. The Hartford ins. company uses N.A.D.A. to value vehicles and like I said before, they offered me 1500.00  and that is lower than a rotted out beater, the beater is worth $2,205.00 With A/C  So needless to say, they gettin' her cheep.  Also there's about 37 gallons of premium leaded gas in her tanks.

Good News!  I just got off of phone with ins. company.  They are settling for 6,000.00 minus 500.00 deductible.  So I get my original price paid for back.  I cannot afford to fix her, so I am going to the yard tomorrow to get the rest of my stuff out and off of her. Whatever I can get away with, I am sure they are not going to let me remove the dash pad :(.  But I may be able to get away with the beauty rings.  Will be going to Fla. to purchase an S-10, V6, extended cab.
