Gear Ratio
« on: April 01, 2008, 09:32:49 am »
i have always dreamed of having 44's on a vehicle but have never been able to afford them until now.  i have a 90 jimmy with a 10 bolt rear end, pretty sure its a stock gear ratio 3.73 probably.  what gear ratio would be needed to drive 44's?  would having the 10 bolt just be pointless with them tires?  i would drive it on the road probably 50% of the time.  i would probably be better served with something smaller i know, but you gotta have dreams and there is no point to having money if it isnt making you happy.

I would definitely run 4.10's at the least with 44"s. I had 4.56's with my 44"s and had stock 12 bolt axles. If you're sure you want those tires I'm just gonna warn you that the ride is going to be crap but the worst part will be your steering unless you do some serious upgrades.
