Crank Casting number doesn't exist?? Any Help??
« on: April 10, 2008, 12:02:04 AM »
Okay, I've spent the last like 3 hours searching every possible combination of numbers and words to find the crank casting number I have, the closest number to what I have is a 14088526 which is a cast iron 86-up one peice rear seal crank, which from what I can tell just by looking at it is what I have, but my casting number is 14088528, and no I'm not reading it wrong. I've came across one site that mentioned that it might be a cast steel crank, can anyone help me out with this?

Thank you,
Dan

I don't think so, I looked it over real good again just to make sure of it, It is definately 14088528, but since I've seen a few other people on the net asking about this, why doesn't anyone have any info on it, just seems weird.

I just built a 2 bolt main 350
It's still on the stand, oil pan side up
I too have the same crank casting number
1408852(?)
Even in the photos you posted the last number looks like an "8"
Looking at mine it hard to tell if the last numbers is an 8 or a 6.
but if you compare the two 8's in the middle,
you can tell they are different than the last number
the 8's in the middle have a small circle on top
and a big circle on the bottom of the 8

The last number looks as if both circles (?) are the same size, leading me to believe this is a "6", not an 8.

it's a nodular iron crank

the crank has additional numbers and markings on it
I can post the ones I have
but it will have to be tomorrow....

yes I can definately tell it is a cast crank from the thin parting line, but I'm still certain the last number is an "8" and not a "6" but I'm thinking of changing out the crank anyway...

Hard to tell by your pix but I looked it up in a casting ID book I have and it says 350 cast crank one piece rear main seal

Could it just be a fault in the mold, there is no indention on the left side of the last number like the other 8's in the sequence?
