WALKING AND BEER
« on: April 21, 2008, 10:25:49 pm »
A recent study found the average American walks about 900 miles per
Year.

Another study found Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of beer a
Year.

That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon.

Kind of makes you proud to be an American.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Amen.
In actuality, since I don't walk much (that is why i have two trucks) and I drink a lot, I probably get 10 gallons to the mile.    ;D

OK I'll Bite ;)

6 miles/day * 365 days/year = 2190 miles/year

Then:

24 beers/week * 52 weeks/year = 1248 beers

then assuming 12oz cans:

1248 beers * 12oz = 14976 oz's

Then:

14976 oz's / 128 oz's/gal = 117 gallons/year

So:

2190 miles walked / 117 gallons of beer = 18.7 miles/gallon   :P

Now I am assuming that you are drinking a brand of beer that comes 24 to a case, where as, if you change to a brand like Iron City that comes 30 to a case, well, the end result changes -  or if you like to drink say.... only 40's then the end result would change - but you get the concept. :D

Yeah, but what about the weight-lifting involved?  12 oz at a time ya know!  That's bound to burn a few calories!
Darn Sierra Nevada Pales are hard to put down.  ;D

My calculations suggest the "fatigue factor" is negliable because the original problem stipulated a case of beer a week which, if spread out evenly is only 3.4 beers per day - and if the 3.4 beers is spread out evenly throughout the day (assuming a waking time of 16 hours) that is .21 beers per hour (not real hard and very little calories burned). :D

I have WAY too much time on my hands :D

I too have an ICE COLD High Life in my hand...  My problem is that my fridge is in my garage where I am and there is no longer any work getting done...

Just spent too much time trying to save inner fenders that weren't worth it!  Cold beer is good though <CRACK>   Maybe ONE more...

For me all I need is an ice cold Dr.Pepper or Coke and I'm set! Other than that I drink Brisk.

But if I calculated my mileage with how much I drink Dr.Pepper.. I'd have to say I get gallons to the mile.

I'm a miller lite guy myself.  I have a "beer" fridge that is all mine in my basement.  If I am working outside, my 30' camper has a nice fridge full of beer at all times. Sometimes I'll sit in my camper with a beer and crank the 500 watt amp up and listen to a few cd's.
I'm thirsty.
