NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
« on: April 23, 2008, 06:06:33 pm »
well, i decided to clean out my "baby" yesterday, and after seeing quite a few "horror" threads of these "vented floorboards", i decided to pull my rubber mat back and see what mine looked like.  for the most part they looked mint, just like i figured they would...but as i pulled the weatherstripping off, i was saddened to see that a small section of the rail that holds the weatherstrip had rotted away because the original drain hole became plugged with dirt.  i mean, yea, it's easily fixable and nothing compared to what some of you have to deal with, but man that hurts...

then i move to the driver's side...same story...a small section rotted out of the weatherstrip rail...also, where the floor butts up to the front 1/4 panel (in front of the door) there is some "advanced surface rust" starting.  i mean, none of it is "too grave to be fixed" but at the same time i gotta get hot on it...

ya'll got any recommendations as to what i can do?  i mean, i wanna sand it i know, but i've heard that spray primer isn't really good to leave something in as it can actually PROMOTE rust.  i don't have a lot of money to dump into it right now, might be a few months, but i wanna do something to neutralize this rust and stop it from spreading around my baby anymore...

Chassis saver. Same as POR15, and about half the price.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

well, while i was chatting on the phone and looking over my truck i decided to look closer...i knelt down and looked at my cab corners and saw some paint bubbling up...started picking at it with my pocket screwdriver and to my horror i found a tiny HOLE!  then on the other side i found another one...my nightmares are coming true...

i will never give up on this truck, she WILL get fixed to showroom-condition but man this is a "buzzkill"...

ya'll think i could fix this by sanding around the holes until i get down to some bare metal and using a wire welder to weld the holes?  or is there any other way to just repair the holes in the cab corners (they are so small it's not even funny) without replacing the cab corners and preferrably without bondo...i really don't want any bondo on this truck...at all.
