73, 74s and some 75s didn't have them from the factory. Sometime along the line there were aftermarket ones offered that were one piece plastic. They were a retrofit type deal for the early ones that didn't have them. I have run across a few sets over the years, they were riveted on.

As Harold stated, all 73-74's and some 75's were actually aftermarket as drip rails weren't offered on these.  The story is one of the engineers that worked on the truck made a set and sold them to GM for a profit and finally in 75 GM started making their own.

im 99% sure that the plastic ones on my 75 were factory???
the farmer i bough it off of probly would never take the time to put or have them put on
