Not a good day
« on: June 29, 2006, 03:27:00 am »
You gotta check out what happened to my brother's Ford Expidition today.  He just finished paying for it last year and, well, you'll see.

I guess that's what happens when you buy a Ford.

wow, hope everyone is ok., let me guess, cruise control switch in the master cylnder?  maybe the NTSB should stop harassing gm and really go after Ford and dodge to recall their garbage they put on the road.  Ever see a chevy spit out a plug? never.  ask a ford owner about their triton engine and i am sure there would be a tirade.  also its funny how ford redesigned the explorer after dumping all the blame on firestone.  never saw a chevy flip with firestones on it.

They are still investigating as to what happened.  My bro parked this expidition at a supermarke, went in and next thing you know, thing's on fire.

it appears it started in the engine area.  that is all that is known.

The firestone issue.....a lot has to do w/ the drivers.  DO NOT overcorrect the steering after a blow out.  YOU WILL DIE!!!

I just keep thinking of darwins theory of survival of the fittest in these issues.  If you cannot calmly bring the truck back under control....you need not pass your dna to the next generation.

That sucks no matter what brand, just the hassle of dealing with an insurance co.
It didn't help that Ford told people on thier door sticker to keep their Firstone tires under inflated.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I'm not too sure why people hit their brakes when a front tire blows. To me it just makes sense, you blow a front right, hit the brakes and the front right of the truck will nose dive, Duh, it's gonna flip dummy!!!! I wat6ched it happen Memorial day on 75 on my way back from buying a new truck from Red Hoagland GMC. Ford van doing an easy 80 mph, blew a right front, nailed the breaks and flipped across three lanes of traffic taking out a Kia, a Mazda pickup, and a late model Denali. It really doesn't matter whether your running Firestones or Futuras, if you don't use your head when your behind the wheel, your in for a rude awakening when something bad happens.

The way it is  in America is, the dumber you are, the richer you will become.

Lawyers have a field day with dumb ash people everyday.

They accidentaly shoot their hand when cleaning a gun, they sue Winchester--get millions.

A drunk driver wrecks and is paralyzed--they sue the bar---get millions.

Their kid gets run over by a lawn mover, they sue MTD because the blade keeps spinning when in mower is in reverse---get millions--no lawn mover has a safety on the blade when in reverse, none!  Let me be on that jury. Really happened, last week.

They get burned gulping hot coffee and sue McDonald's---gets free coffee the rest of his life so it can happen yet again.  Now they have to warn you that the coffee may be hot----C'MON AMERICA!!!

Next thing you know, drinking glasses will have a warning etched in them in the future...."don't break the glass, it may cut you--discard immediately, oh, but don't discard in the trash, a kid may pick it up and cut his arm off"  GEESE!

A guy goes to sleep with a cigarette in his hand...house catches fire and he is burned over 80% of his body, he sues the sheet company due to the sheets in his bed were flammable---gets milliions.  What the $#*^  Are we supposed to sleep on a concrete bed with asbestos sheets--Good God people, let me be on that jury.

And, oh, about cigarettes, a guy smokes for 50 years, not heading the Surgeon Generals warnings, and knows tabacco is not a natural substance to inhale, and gets cancer.  He sues PHilip Morris and gets millions.

A boy chokes on a plastic wheel on a matchbox car.  Family sues and gets millions.  Now on the packages of matchbox, label reads "not for kids under 45 years old."

A guy gets his privates burned at a hotel shower because the water was too hot and sues.  You guessed it, got millions.  Now hotels cannot have water over 50 degrees because this land is full of morons.

So, yeah, if you are doing 90 mph and blow a tire because the pressure was not correct and your car flips 19 times because you jammed on the breaks and turned the wheel 480 degrees around, you can sue Firestone because you are an ignoramous, and get millions.

So, to sum up, the moral of the story, you should be able to survive in this world with an IQ of -50 without a scratch at all in life.  If something happens, it is someone else's fault--it could have been avoided.

If I fall asleep at the wheel, runn off the road, wake up, slam on brakes, hit a guard rail and my chin hits the steering wheel and breaks my jaw, I will sue my work, because three days ago, the last day I worked, i had to work over a little, that messed up my circadian rythem.  I will sue the state for laying asphalt on the road that wasn't rough enough to slow me down enough.  I will sue the tire company for their tire tread not stopping the car.  I will sue the car manufacturer because the steering wheel was too hard and broke my jaw--for the engine being too powerful to go that fast in the first place (40 mph)--for headlights not being bright enough to see two miles ahead of me while sleeping--for the car seat being too comfortable to allow me to sleep--for the brakes not slowing me down fast enough (while i was sleeping)--for the seatbelt putting a mark on my shoulder (ouch) and sue the state for putting a dang guardrail up so close to the road--how is one to sleep while driving for christ's sake--I'd rather of hit the lake beyond the guardrail, maybe my chin wouldn't have hit the steering wheel so hard.  Man, I am rich.

Sorry, i had to let my frustrations out.  No other country would allow this.

I hope you feel better after the little venting episode Andy. But you forgot to sue someone else, after all of the other money is collected so that you can sue yourself for negligence

Yeah, that's true Jay.  One's own insurance will have to pay for my stupidity.

I know this ones a little old by now but, I'm watching the news right now and another Expedition just burned to the ground in a parking lot in Tampa. Word is that Ford is recalling like 17,000 Expeditions due to something screwy with the cruise control wiring. I'm not sure if that makes sense, I was never aware of the cruise being live after the truck is shut off. Anyhow, just thought I'd let you know that your brother isn't alone at the Ford bbq Andy.

I've gotta say ford is light years behind the rest. Well not light years but 10 years. In 1982 GM gave technicians data interface capability with computer command controlled vehicles. 10 years later ford finally did and not very good I might add. Ford says run your SUV's Firestone tires @ 26PSI and demands Firestone makes the tires as cheap as possible to get the contract. When people run their tires low and bald they might pop! You think? Hmmm Now let's take a look at Ford engineering again....

I left a Ford parked inside and came into work the next day to find 20 foot flames coming out of the explorer that ruined the shop I was managing. Turned out to be an electrical fire @ the brake switch or cruise switch. Too much melt to say for sure. Ever heard of circuit protection that works ford? I cannot tell you how many Ford pigtails I have replaced due to melting, whether it's the headlamp switch, brake switch, or even the PDC. Ford seems to have the same things happen over and over again and yet they do nothing to change their designs for the better. Is this what built ford tough means?

It's really strange how inconsistant the Blue Oval is. I've had just as many Ford trucks as I've had Chevys, and the best AND the worst one were Fords. The best one was a '92 E-350 diesel van. International 7.3 non turbo, A4ld trans, that thing had 800,000 miles on it when I finally got rid of it. Of course it was on it's 5th tranny but I was hauling a 10,000 pound trailer at all times behind it. The worst one was a '93 Ranger with 2.3 and a 5 speed, my van got better fuel milage. It would burn a fuel pump relay up twice a month. Ignition modules are rediculous in these things. Right now I've been running a '91 F-150 and it's not too bad, but it's got issues too, duel tanks and they're very finicky on when they want to work right, the tach reads 0 before running but shows a 3000 rpm idle, then it reads correctly after 3000. But the ride is great and the 300 six has GOBS of torque, not to mention the fact that it cost me at least 2000 bucks less that a comparable Chevy. Hey, it's for work anyways, trash the F-word while the Chevy gets yet another new life.

Don't drive your young sons in an expedition Jay.  We don't know why the thing burned two months later...oh well.  Just too melted and engine seems to have been all magnesium or something (aluminum) and vanished under the flames.
