don't forget to use your to's correctly.

to, too, two have different places in sentences.

For example. "I like chevy trucks, but I like gmc trucks to."  That is an unfinished sentence. "I like chevy trucks, but I like gmc truck too." is correct. That is the worst mistake I see people do. I can probably find that on this forum alone thousands of times.

The one that sends me over the edge is Tranmition or Transmition How in the do you get that from Transmission. I have seen it on at least two dozen different Craigslist ads!
Like this simpleton. Its not a typo as he spelled it the same both times!

How do you get TURION out of TORINO twice?

At least he's consistant, might have been worse spelled wrong 2 different ways. lol

I get your point, though. I mean, it's spelled on the car correctly more than once.

I tuned my engine real good  (hmm, well) after I dropped the motor in perfect (adverb--perfectLY).

Oh! and what about, there, their---more than a few times used incorrectly

The problem nowadays is that the Saturday cartoons no longer have those short clips in between them that teaches grammar....you know, you old guys like me, Conjuntion Junction, what's your function? (Schoolhouse Rock)

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up words and phrases and clauses.
Conjunction Junction, how's that function?
I got three favorite cars
That get most of my job done.
Conjunction Junction, what's their function?
I got "and", "but", and "or",
They'll get you pretty far.

Am I showing my age?  Anyone else remember these?
I'm getting old. I remember all of these from my Saturday mornings in front of the tube watching cartoons...way back when there were only three stations.

I remember those very well too. What made my grammar better was the computer.
(1) I didn't have a quick way of checking before I started typing allot on one.
(2) I knew allot more people would be able to see what I wrote and didn't want them to think I was a moron, even thought I am far from one. Bad spelling makes the a smart person look like a numb scull.

Oh! and what about, there, their---more than a few times used incorrectly
Another mis-used term is then and than.  As in "the displacement in a 350 is greater than that of a 305" and not "the displacement in a 350 is greater then that of a 305".  This one is even making its way into our newspapers because most spelling and grammar checkers aren't picking it up.

Channel 7 in Boston (which is a pretty big news station, with a really large budget) mis-spelled Barack Obama twice in a newscast one evening, calling him Barback Obama.  At the time they had been advertising for a behind the scenes person to type up graphics and do spell checking for the newscasts.  I guess they were still searching for a suitable candidate.  I've also noticed those pretty news bunnies on camera are little more than a face.  If something is mis-spelled on the teleprompter or grammatically incorrect they read it word for word anyway.  It's both comical and sad.

I'm not the best speller, and my grammar could be better, but it appears my English language skills are miles ahead of most folks.

Hookd on foniks werkd fer mee   :P

It amazes, concerns and saddens me where it would seem most of today's youth is headed with their grammar (and by association, their intelligence). But with the online world, they don't care and have no need to care since everybody they are communicating with are just as bad!

What really......really chaps my hide is when I have a day off and watch one of them cheezy court TV shows. There's whomever and whomever talking as bad as they can spell in front of a proper-speaking, non-regional accent, respectful judge. Spelling and grammar is one thing, but when you TALK like that.....that just ticks me off.

All right, wait just a minute.  Now this discussion is goin towards "regional ax-cents"?!?!  Some of us good ole boys can write proper, we just like to taulk lazy.  Course I under-stand everythang being spoke tuh me in a southern-fried tongue.  No never mind, readin and writin is important!

My wife actually spells out all words when she sends text messages on her cell phone.  Whoa!

I have to say my three year old boy talks much better than most teenagers today.

However, I started to talk like him.  I heard him say something today and I turned around and asked him, in the same way he asks me the same question, "What you said?"  I am sure I am not as cute saying it that way. ;D
