A/C Removal
« on: May 25, 2008, 10:38:03 am »
1974 C10 1/2 Ton and a minimalist owner
So I'm going through my truck to clean it up and simplify as much as I can. Re wiring, removing unnecessary components etc...
A/C didn't work and is going. I have removed the compressor, the brackets, the condenser, all the lines, and even pulled the evaporator from the "firewall box" (?proper name?) and this brings up my question. I assume the non AC trucks had a smaller box with no provision/room for an A/C evaporator... If this is the case, where can I get said box? L"M"C has all the A/C or Heater parts you need, minus these boxes. They even show the boxes in their diagrams but show no part # or availability. Are these boxes available to purchase or is it off to the junkyards for the hunt?

Right on, thank you for the reply. Seems a bit pricey, but you have to pay to play. :)
Your engine bay looks tasty.

I assume a used box though from a non A/C truck is similiar?

a heater box from a non a/c truck will not bolt in place of that a/c box.
