I need some center cap ideas
« on: June 02, 2008, 11:26:39 am »
On my stepside is a set of chrome wheels that came off of a 90s model chevy, The chrome looks good, and I would like to keep them on the truck to keep costs down, the only problem, no center caps :( So i was thinking either find a set of bullet style caps, or figure out a way to put the chrome centers off my 83 on here, I think I could drill 3 holes in the rim, tap it out, and go with that, I also have some 77 model center caps that bolt through the back, but only have 3 :( if anyone has done something like this, post pictures please!!

Here is the rims, don't pay any attention to the bald cooper cobras, they got one more burnout left then they're coming off ;D also what are some good, sporty looking tires, I like the cobras, just looking for more fairly cheap options, about the same price range of the cobras ;D Thank yall

Ditto on above.  Get the stock caps for the tires.

Basically anything with the right bolt pattern should be able to work.  Wander the junkyards and check out caps and take a wheel to the wheel shop.  They should have center caps from the wheels they're selling and shouldn't mind letting you put one on your wheel as a test fit.  then if you like it, buy a set of center caps.  I had an old set of slot mags on my old 69 mustang and did just that and ended up with a cap off a new set of wheels and it looked good.

454SS' used the same caps as all the other Chevys.  Shouldn't be to hard to find or expensive unless you were looking on 454SS.com

Yep GM used them on all 2WD Luggers, weither a Pickup/SUV/Van/Etc....   As suggested, used the Late 80's to 90's ones that anchor using Lugnut Covers, as opposed to the Earlier Bolt-on Type....    Around here, alot of the Yards sell them for $5-10 because they are Plastic, instead of the earlier Diecasts of the Late 70's/Early 80's-'90's.......  Would suggest EvilBey as well as your Local Yards....
