On my research recently for 12 bolts, I've seen that 2.73-3.42 used the same carrier. Ask the vendor you want to buy those gears from to be sure though.
3.08 from 2.73 is a pretty small jump. Unless you're replacing the gears because the 2.73s are munched and you're getting the 3.08 for free, you should move at least 2 steps (like 3.23 or 3.42) to notice any difference.
