87 SWB with pics
« on: July 08, 2008, 01:25:57 pm »
Hi guys,  I have been reading these posts for a while now and once in a while I will chime in...  but I figured I would post a few pictures of my ride:

Some Details:

1987 Chevy
350 4-speed
PW PDL A/C
120,000 miles

I have owned it for 5 yrs now  only change i made was the wheels and tires....

I beleive the lift is only 2.5"   well i measured the blocks and that's how high they are...

It needs new springs bad in the front...bushings are SHOT!!!!    i will move up to a 4" lift  hopefully before winter.....    it sags about a 1/2" lower in the front on the drivers side.....  so i need new springs  :)

Well here is it..........

Enjoy

Loving the black......and where did you get your bed edge caps from (I guess thats what you call them), I like the diamond plate look....thinking they would look fairly nice on my silver c10

+1 on the toolbox too.....My friends keep telling me to put mine back on but its not the right size for my truck....sits in just a lil on both sides

Again NICE

Guys,

Thanks for all the praise.....   I am humbled by everyone here.   I see my truck everyday and I know it needs alot of TLC but it has great bones..  I just hope one day mine will turn out as nice of some of the trucks here....

DnStClr:

Actually that paint has to be close to 10 years old I have had the truck for 5 years now and the paint was just ok when i got it....  I have tried to buff it with a polisher and used plenty of clay bar to get it decent...   it has a ton of fine lines in it and i don't think the paint was ever cured right because to me it seems "soft"  it does not take much to mark it up.....

anyway one of my plans is to repaint someday   but that's way after everything else I have planned...  A friend of mine owns a body shop...  so the plan someday is for me to strip it down in my garage....  you know  bumpers off lights trim etc.   then he picks it up on a flatbed and returns it to me good as new

but like i said that's a few years from now... but we all need a game plan right??

Thanks again for the praise...
Oh and I came across some additional pictures   hope I am not going overboard here... but this is the last of them for now

Thanks everyone for the kind words... truth is this truck is far from "mint"   it takes a good picture just put it that way....  Is it solid... of course... does it run good  YEP....everything work  and a/c is freezing....  but "mint"   definately not..

It's a labor of love....  hopefully someday i can restore/modify it the way i want to.... until then... it's a good driver  :)

Again  I really appreciate all the feedback and if i can answer any questions feel free to ask  :)

Thanks
Mike

Hi guys:

I have been working on my 4" lift and it's 95% done.  I say that because It's going to my friends' shop Friday so he can replace my upper and lower ball joints on the drivers side and change the steering arm..  (I just could not get it off myself) and an alighment  anyway....  Here is a pic of before, when it had the 2" lift  and then after with the 4"   there is a ton of room now for the 33's  :)

Please overlook the rusty rockers...  my goal with this truck is to get all the suspension/steering set first before I begin to tackle the rust repair/replace.  once it leaves my friends I have to install the dual steering stabilizers and clean and paint the chassis  (body on unfortunately)  but it's getting there.....

Thanks
Mike
