Ol nelley has finally called it quits
« on: July 17, 2008, 08:29:55 pm »
Hello all,
we bought a 1994 eagle vision brand new(well my parents did) and its a 1 owner car and its got 213k plus on the odometer. As of late the car had been very hard starting and when it did run it sounded like a ticking time bomb.I drove it to work 1 day and all of a sudden all the warning lights illuminated and the engine shut off on me.I put her in neutaral and it cranked over and over and over and nothing.I had to park it on the side of the road , shut all power off and then i heard the chimer go off and then it started up and i drove on.The past 2 mornings it wont even fire up but turn over and over and over and it wont fire up.But in the afternoon it`ll turn over and fire up.I have a feeling its a computer and on top of it all the engine sounds like a bad lifter or something but i think after 14 years its time to retire her, she leaks oil got rust holes in the rocker on the drivers side, headliner is ripped and sagging, has a clunk when you accelerate possibly rack n pinon bushingshas a bump in the transmission when you take off into 2nd gear. But i am now looking at something more econimical , i am going to look at a 2003 toyota camry 4 cyl full leather, 65k miles for 11,500  what would you reccomend on a good econimical car for around 12k and i wont buy a compcat car. Does the camry sound like a good price for its year?

thanks

Subaru Out Back, Camry, Or Accord.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

11.5 for a 65k mile FOUR cylinder?  Man, it must be a good car to warrant that money.  I just don't like four cylinders, they wear out so much quicker, but, I guess in today's $4+ gall gas, we have little choice in the matter.
But still, 11.5? (how do you spell out a whistle in letters? wheeewww)

A bit higher in price, the Saturn Aura is a nice car and can be bought with a 4cyl or 6 cyl . American built and well laid out.

I would say check inside the distributor cap for moisture when it's morning to see if there might be a crack in the cap..

I had 2 Altima's I used to wail on them. I used one when I'd drive 120 miles to work and back every day and it saved me mega $$ plus it cranked right along. I would definitley buy one again as a beater for good gas milage.
