leaf spring install
« on: July 19, 2008, 01:22:34 pm »
my front leaf springs are sagging really bad so i bought some new ones to replace 'em. i think i have and idea as to how to install them but i wanna know how you guys go about doin it. any suggestions, hints, or tips would be appreciated a lot. also, they are 4" springs if that makes a difference at all.
Are you just gonna lay there and bleed or are you gonna cowboy up?

So it already has a 4" lift but you are just replacing the springs correct? Just raise and support the truck. Support the axle with a jack, remove the u-bolts and lower the axle to allow the leaves to be unbolted. It's pretty straight forward.

You might want to spray down the bolts with weasel pee (PB Blaster) or some other kind of pentrating oil Days ahead of time will make things easier.

yes i do already have a 4" lift and thats what i figured i had to do. i just wanted to make sure there wasnt gonna be any little catches somewhere lol. seems like everytime i go to do somethin that looks real easy and should take no time at all it ends up takin triple the time to do it and i run into tons of problems haha. and yes i have been sprayin all the bolts so hopefully that will make things easier. thanks much guys.
