newer chevy performance parts.
« on: January 21, 2007, 01:47:00 am »
I have an 02 silverado z71 4x4 and I was wondering if anybody has any knowledge on these motors. I already have it chipped:D  and am currently ordering a K&N cold air intake. But I was wondering about a mass airflow sensor or a larger throttle body and a throttle body spacer.  Im thinking about seeing if the exhaust off a 6.0L will fit because I like my daily driver quite. but it needs larger exhaust.

is it the 5.3 liter or the 4.9? The 5.3's are nice engines and have alot of power. I'm not sure about your exhaust question but there are plenty of ways to get an aggressive sound out of the 5.3's I have an '02 silverado shortbed 4x4 with a 5.3 with 40 series flowmasters and it sounds great.

What do you have it chipped with?

If you really want to make more performance, put in a better cam. Get a high flow catalytic converter and better exhaust system, headers etc. Get the PCM flashed to accomodate and if you really have a nice fat wallet put a supercharger on it. Other than that you'll probably just nickel and dime yourself to death with all of the cheap add ons that everyone is selling.

Im not to worried about putting a cam in it because it has enough power but I just want a little bit more power. I think that I might be sarisfied with new exhaust and a CIA, we'll see.  Im going to try and find some more forums on the net and continue asking around. O yeah it has the 5.3.

I have knowledge of them.  My other partnered website with my brother sells remote mount STS turbos for them.  gracemotorsports.biz is the site.

Currently his truck has made 526hp and 653lb/ft on 13lbs of boost on a stock motor.

I am also working on putting a 6.0L/4L80E with twin turbo's in my website pickup documented here:

For you exhaust, the 6.0L won't work unless you get all of it from the manifolds back.  6.0 exhaust is rounted differently.

From experience, you aren't going to gain power you can feel with what you listed.  The Air kit doesn't gain anything, other than a washable air cleaner.  We dyno'd the changes on the truck.

A good forum for the 99-up's is performancetruck.net.
