I do have waaaay to much time right now! ;D

It's looking very nice, what paint system/brand is being used?

They're using BASF brand paint, and it's being done in a BC/CC system.  Its got 2 coats of color and 2 coats of clear.

Here's todays progress. Only stuff to paint is the front valance, ashtray, glovebox door and gas caps. Everything's in the sun. They have the cab sanded and buffed and will get to the bed later today.

Thanks guys!

I only have one problem with black.  The work it takes to make it look good if it wasn't a black body to begin with.  The only thing we have that isn't black is my truck, and we bought those cars new so they were easy. ;D

I think the body shop did really well on this one. They have everything color sanded and buffed and also got the new windshield installed this morning and it looks great. The photos don't do it justice. Tomorrow they should have the tailgate and bed sprayed with bedliner, as well as the bottom half of my toolbox. Then in 2 days I'm supposed to FINALLY get it back! ;D

The next pics I get should be of the truck at home again on friday.

You betya!  gonna put it in the garage and drink beer and check it out, basically stare at the same stuff I've already seen before and sit and listen to the engine run. ;D  I miss the sound of it, that lil Focus sounds like an egg-beater...

Hey Kenny, I was just noticing the forward edge of your new hood in the above pic, and I was wondering is that a Goodmark replacement or a NOS piece????  To me the edge looks like it is a NOS '79-80 Hood, as they came with an optional Stainless Chip Guard that mounted over it...

That is a factory 78-80 hood.  Goodmark doesn't sell non-cowl hoods.

I got that hood off a friend whose truck was stolen before he could use it.  It's originally came from year one.  I had been hunting around for a non cowl hood and this is the only one I could find  I think new it cost 130-150 bucks, but he let me have it for $50.  The box had "cobra king" brand name on it and its from taiwan, but the fit is excellent and it feels just as sturdy as the OE hood.  On another note, my Goodmark door had the same cobra king name on the packaging and it fits excellent too, but the "improved quality fender" I bought was in a goodmark box.    I always liked the 79-80 hoods better because it adds a little extra detail.   The cowl hoods cost like 3x more $$ and I don't think it would fit the style of my truck.

Since goodmark doesn't sell those hoods, maybe the one I got was an older stock item left over from when they did sell them?

Goodmark stopped selling flat hoods about 2 years ago.  Goodmark doesn't "stamp" any sheetmetal, they are a reseller, they just have close connections to their reseller.

Thanks for the Info Kenny and Capt!  I remember Cobra King and preferred their quality when it came to their Aftermarket Parts....  Back when I was in Auto Repair & Refinishing Training, and I still sold Auto Parts, CK was CAPA Certified since their Quality and Fit were up there.....  CAPA is an Aftermarket AutoParts Certification given to Aftermarket Vendors, when their parts are to OEM or Better than OEM in fit and finished quality(Part has all of the proper mounting locations, or may need only slight adjustment, and all of the part's body lines match the Factory Lines)......   It's funny, but Cobra Kings hoods go for about $35-40 US directly through them, but you have Shipping Costs and Other Hassle you have to go through, if you go direct.....   I used to be able to get ahold of their Parts through NORDAN, for slightly above CK's Direct Prices, but NORDAN is since long gone(They were bought out, but can't remember by who).....  The Only other Local Vendor that carries them, is I believe PC, but they start sticking it to you, as soon as CAPA has been anywhere near the Parts Manufacturers Name.... They like to gouge you for 4-5X's the MSRP, and of course they would prefer you go through an AutoBody Shop, or one of their Retailers(They always say they enjoy you dropping by their Location, but they Jack you around when they do) ::)...  You got a Great Deal on that Hood Kenny! Envious for sure! 8)

Hmmm Wasn't aware that Goodmark stopped selling the Flat Hoods, but I guess it makes sense since more are drawn to the Cowls when they see them( Now it would be Kool if the Cowls had that edge detail as an option) ;D.....

Unfortunately they did.  I get more request for stock hoods than cowl  I probably haven't sold but 5 hoods this year.
