Heading to the salvage yard...
« on: August 10, 2008, 01:23:43 pm »
Hey guys, I'm thinking of taking a trip to the local salvage yard in search of replacement interior parts. Which truck years should I be looking at for parts that will work with my '73?

Like the name of the site, 73-87!  ;D  But seriously, in terms of body etc. 73-80 will fit almost everything, and even 81-87 will fit a a fair amount of the parts.

If your looking for door panels 73-76 only will work and 77-80  if your truck is a 73 the doors are different sd far as where the door panels sit and the inside window mechanisms. I think chris our moderator  here had a illustration as far as differences in the doors.

thanks
pat

p.s. the rest should be the same as far as interior panels except the dash pads 73-80 all the same 81-7 were the same.

The early doors will accept the newer panels but the window regulators are shorter and you'll either have to modify your window crank or weld on an extension.. The 73-76 panels won't work on later year doors though.

Thanks for the info guys. I walked right into the website name comment. ;D

I am after a variety of parts. My interior is in in decent shape now, but I could definitely use a new instrument bezel, and I'm also interested in a new bench seat, and possibly door panels. I really just want to see what's available in my area. Who knows... I may find some decent parts.

The plastic bezel, 73-80 for the best fit, seats, 73-80 for the same style, 73-76 for door panels.

Not just the moderator here Pat, I own the place :D
