Bad luck or what?
« on: January 09, 2007, 11:20:00 pm »
It all started back in june 2006 I was driving my '85 K-10 back to the house. My truck started to shimmy and wouldn't downshift back to first. I pulled off the road and got out and checked everything on it and underneth nothing was loose or disconncted. I got back in and put it back in drive. It wouldn't do nothing! I ran it through the gears and found that reverse worked so I backed up to this guys house, called and asked my friend to haul it the rest of the way home for me.

The next thing happend 4 months later my buddy wanted me to drive his '90 K-5 Balzer home for him since he had the company rig that day. I was just half way to his house the stinkin' transmission started acting up! I checked everthing I could think of. The only way it would go was to mash the gas pedel down all the way!

Finally last month I was dirving my 78 gmc home after work  it had a bad tendency to kick in to neutral whenever it would come to a complete stop, the light turned green it was doing fine for alittle bit but when i went to turn off the highway i would not go back in to gear! So I coasted it to the side and checked everything. Now just reverse works in it.

I was just wondering if its me or the trucks?

thanks:b

I know how you feel.  I've had my truck for 2 months and I've already dumped 3 grand into getting it running good.

First was the head gasket, then after the rebuild, the carb took a leak.  Then after the carb rebuild, I threw out the tranny.  Took it to the shop and it cost me $1500 to rebuild my tranny and torque converter.  Yeah, it was that bad.  They had to replace the whole transmission housing on the @#%$ thing...

But I just got it back, and it runs like a champ! (knock on wood)

Well my luck changed (Knock on wood). I put about 16 hundred in the tranny alone, so it should last another 29 years!  Now to focus on the motor.
