the black ball

i was going to see if anyone could help identify what this connection goes to(the one that is lying on the fender), and what the round black thing is in the far right corner.

It's a vacuum reservoir. May be for the hevac, I thought 83 had electronic cruise?...

The ball is a vacuum resivoir ^^^  I don't know about the connector.

so i guess with the ball being a vaccum res. i kinda need that,  and the wire on the fender i can trace back through the firewall and report back on my findigns thanks a bunch on the help. i am tryin to clean up under the hood and on the firewall and get rid of any  unnecessary items.

The Black ball is a vacuum resevior, you need it especially if you have AC.  The other plug depends on where it comes from and what it looks like...

Could it be the remnants of the elctonic spark control? My 81 had it but that was removed long ago.

along with the wires, there is a rubber hose in the harness with it. i traced the harness under the dash, but i could not see where it was going, it was going up pretty high in the dash.

The rubber hose attaches to a brake switch. It controls the cruise.
