my blazer is getting bad, thinking about giving up on it
« on: September 14, 2008, 03:16:04 pm »
Im in the middle of restoring my 84 sierra, and I have a 79 malibu I working on too. Well my blazer is getting pretty rough. The rear body mounts are poking through in the bed area, and the floor boards by the rockers are rusty, the seat belts arent attached to the pillar anymore, the drivers bedside is rusty, both doors are rusty. Im thinking about giving up on this one. I have a guy thats interested in buying it. Maybe I will let him know about this site if he does buy it and maybe he will start to fix it up. But heres a pic of the floor behind the drivers seat, just under the rear seat. Its the same on both sides.

That's where they all rot out. I've restored the most rotted out blazer. I replaced the entire floor, doors, fenders, tailgate, etc and the truck came out fabulous. It was a lot of work but the end result was awesome. I wish I kept that truck.

You should sell it then. Put the $ towards your other projects.

Ok the blazer is now gone. I hated to see it go as I have had it a long time but my 84 Sierra sure appreciates the sacrifice as now I can get more stuff for it  ;D

i've been thinking about giving up my jimmy and was wondering how much you got for your blazer?  my problem is time, i work full time, go to school full time, got 2 kids that i have joint custody of and a needy girlfriend.  if i could get rid of the jimmy for a reasonable price i would.

Okay, you had me until you said "needy girlfried" as a reason for giving up a truck.  Heck, I have a needy WIFE who HATES my old 73' C20 longbed beater truck and I fight her off tooth and nail!  I tell her I will give up Old Reliable over my dead body!

as rusty as it was, the drivetrain was solid. It ran and drove great so I got $1000 for it.

i think i might have a hard time getting rid of it.  its in pieces right now, i live in fargo which is not known for its offroading scene or for its truck scene, and even though gas is usually pretty reasonable here everyone is scared of the future and are getting rid of their trucks so the market is full of vehicles that are runnable and drivable without any work.

i like my girlfriend though and i have to spend time with her if i want to keep calling her my girlfriend.  if it was my ex wife i would spent every minute of my free time in the shop.

my truck has been sitting for 2 years in the drive way with no motor or trans and a one wheel peel with a 256?(41 and 16) gear ... i dumped the g/f a month ago and i now have a   82 swb with a 454.... i rebuilt the 350 trans myself (never did one before and it works :o ) put a 373 posi in the rear and put the djm tubular controls on it.... i say to heck with the needy g/f!  ;D
