Should be a 168, and can be a pain to remove from the back of the cluster, if it has never been changed before.....

Depending on where it is located and how big or small your arm is, you may need to remove the cluster to replace them. If you do, I would replace all of them while you had it out. It is not easy to twist them in except for maybe the lower ones.

Sometimes you can get a different position on te bulb, or even the bulb mounting base that won't work one way, but you can rotate either 180, and it will work fine...... I know my Old '89 K2500,Dad's '76 C20,My '86 & '87 Buicks,'79 Monte, and '96 Caprice were all picky when it came to the dash lights.....

Yes it is in fact a light bulb. I replaced mine one time cause it went out just like yours did. Do not lose the little green piece of plastic that goes in front of the bulb or you will be going to the junk yard for a new one. I forgot to put mine back on and it was blinding light coming out of there without it. I also put LED lights in there one time and that was also way to bright.
