5.3/6.0 swap
« on: September 29, 2008, 08:45:03 pm »
I was reading old posts about this being a great alternative- my 99 5.3 w/150K still runs great.  looking to put something fresh in the 300K 91 Burb.  What is involved with swapping in an LS motor to one of these trucks?  What about the LT1 motor with it's associated fuel injection?

i didn't see those, but just got done reading them both with interest- albeit the reality that the LS swap is too much project for me right now.  just gonna build a mild 383 for the TBI I think- should still get decent mileage and give that heavy suburban a little more low end.  i think i'll try and find a good block, take my time and build it right with the parts that will work best for the TBI- then have it ready to swap whenever I decide too, or the current 350 let's go (hopefully that won't happen first!).

I noticed the new steering box- seems like a remember back in the early 90's reading mag articles about swapping a TA box in trucks to give a quicker steering response and better handling.  not sure how much that would help a heavy suburban 4x4 with 32/11.50's though.....

The F-body/S-series boxes are quicker, but you would have to fab something up on them to get them to work.
