79 C-10 5.3/4L60E--MOVING ON TO BODY WORK
« on: December 12, 2007, 09:28:19 AM »
Its probably been 2 years since I have been on this site.

Wanted to show you all my project I have been working on since last summer.

I found a 5.3/4L60E combo at the local salvage yard with 93K miles on both.
The swap is coming to an end.  I am keeping it stock for now to get a base line of what I have for now.  It is going to have a Custom EFI live tune, as well as home made cold air intake, with dual exhaust.

Any ways, here are some pics of my progress.

Nice setup Bowtie.  Are those your fuel lines wrapping around the back from the front?

yes they are, in the pictures they are laying loose.  I used some P clips to hold them to the intake, and got a set of these:  http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MFY%2D2052211&N=700+0&autoview=sku

Not sure if it was a wise idea or not, but I used tube adaptors to -6 fittings on the factory fuel lines.  I had to use the vent tube ( being 5/16's ) since the factory return line is only 1/4".  I also used a sending unit from an 87, I did the same on the sending unit, used the tube to -6 fittings.  ( 87 return line was already 5/16's ).  So the tank is -6 stainless steel braided hose to the factory fuel line, running up to where the fuel pump would mount.  Once again used the tube to -6 and ran the lines you can see in the picture.  Keeps that factory feel to what we are used to on the 73-86 trucks.

I did run the pump and had no leaks, so "should" be ok.

Got some more pics taken off the camera, some from this evening.  What do you think of my Fuse block.  Found that at the junk yard in a 94 Bonniville SSE.

Removed it to keep from breaking it when I dropped the engine in.  I put the engine tranny in alone, and it was really really close when my dad helped me mock it up.  It laying in the bed.  Going back on when I take the front clip off for paint.

mine is a 2000 Silverado engine.  Rated at 285hp 325tq.  That is stock with all the smog goodies.  Uncorked should be pushing 310HP 345TQ with a good healthy tune in it.  Or more...

I just got inside from working on the truck.  The shifting linkage from the TH350 not only fit to the 4L60E but needed no adjustment, goes from P all the way to 1!!!!!  Can't beat it!  First the drive shaft fit and now this!  Something has got to go wrong sooner or later.... hope I didn't jinks my self.

Hurry, throw some salt over your shoulder or something before you ruin your good luck streak :o

Good job!!  It's nice when things go good without anticipating it.
