Wanted to show a few pictures of my current project. I can see from this forum that there is a ton of experience here and I am sure I will be tapping into it for references and suggestions. The chassis is pretty much done. Media-blasted to the bone, checked for cracks or other problems, then repainted with 4 coats of industrial black paint. Suspension rebuilt, new bushings, shocks, springs, differentials serviced, and brake lines reconditioned. Fuel tank was cleaned, primed, new internal filter and level, new straps and hoses. Added trailer wiring plug to harness and used all new wire loom front to back. Engine is a stock 305 (new Jasper reman with only about 8000 documented miles on it when I bought the truck) so all I did is strip it to the long-block, degrease and paint. All accessory brackets were blasted and painted, new alternator and p/s pump, reman a/c pump. Stock exhaust manifolds to keep the emissions (95% intact), chrome air filter and valve covers, rebuilt the distributor. Tranny and t-case reconditioned and serviced, all new u-joints.
Tonight I tore down the interior of the doner cab which I found to have an aftermarket a/c installed (the cab came from a 3/4 ton 2WD with no engine so I didn't know there was an a/c setup inside) but I am going to use the original a/c from the original cab (original cab is too rusted to use....this cab only needs slight floor replacement). I'll have to modify the firewall a little but no big deal. Here's a wierd thing, the 2WD and the 4WD cabs are supposed to be slightly different in the floor by the t-case but these are the same (I just need to cut the small hole for the 4x4 shifter)....how did I get so lucky?!?
I'll update in a month or so when I get some substantial work done.
