Lights, Roll Pans, & More
« on: October 22, 2008, 07:54:12 pm »
Hey guys. I have a 1985Chevy that's been totally redone. That was almost 5 years ago, when I was 15 though! I've jammed the truck and got the interior all redone the way I want it. I'm basically going through and freshening everything up, changing minor things and customizing it more than I could when I was younger. My question is with products for the truck. There are a few things I can't find--maybe because they do not exist! Any help on any of the products would be greatly appreciated!

Front bumper with Fog Lights. Anyone that drives a truck like this know that the more lights you can get on the front, the better--because the trucks aren't known for having the best headlights (Even when all four are on) This brings me to the next product:

HID or something like HID headlights. I'm tired of the yellow, dim headlights! Anyone have any ideas for brither ones? All I can find are cheap replacements that do not come apart--so I can't simply replace the bulbs in the ones I have found.

STEEL Roll Pan. I never thought this would be difficult to find, but surprisingly enough all I can find are fiberglass roll pans. I have a fiberglass one on there now, but I want a steel pan that I can weld to the body! The bed flexes too much to try and put that much fiberglass in!

Clear Tail lights. I'm not talking about the euro style with the red dots and carbon fiber and crap. I have seen guys with totally clear tail lights with red bulbs in them. I can't ever catch them to see where they got them though!

That's all I got for now. I have the front end torn apart right now, and should have the engine freshened up and the firewall redone within a couple of weeks. I'll post all kinds of pictures once I get some work done!! Thanks for any advice!!

steel rollpan in metal - www.sirmichaels.com

and the clear lights for the rear, i just missed a set on ebay. I know what you mean, I had NEVER seen this ones before. They are identical as the original except the lense is clear...nice.

For a 81-87 truck no one makes an integrated fog lamp setup.
You can get a 81-82 bumper and mount rectangle fog lamps in them
http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=7&Product_Code=4145-000-813&Category_Code=7FB

If you are talking about a front rollpan:
http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=7&Product_Code=4145-026-811A&Category_Code=7FB

If you are talking about a rear: (we now have smooth rears, just not listed yet)
http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=7&Product_Code=4144-876-732C&Category_Code=7387RearBumpers

Headlight= You could do a relay upgrade and gain some, and or Silverstars, or Cibie H4, or Hella H4's (the latter require relay setup)

You're looking for the "Frosted Clear" Stock Style Replacements, and they're going to be a pain in the rear to keep.....  I too like them, but most red bulbs will give you a Pinkish look to them, which will get you hassled eventually....  Also since they are so far and few now, keeping them from being destroyed, or stolen will be a challenge as well.....

Here is the main reason why they are so hard to find....
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news03/lights.html
APC was the first manufacturer to get hit, cause they were the Originators of them, but other Companies and Stores followed later.....  Cause of those cases, is the reason why the new "Euro Clears" are available, and why they are 50 State & World Compliant....

How close do these fit in the front?....and pics of one installed and painted?

What do you mean how close, they weld to the front of the fenders.  I don't like rollpans personaly so I don't have pics of them.  There were some members here who bought them though.

I think you have image restriction set to 800x600. If you click the link and click full view you can see the difference.

Here is a picture of my rear roll pan.  It's metal that I welded to the bed and rear quarters to have a shaved look.

Ignore the wires - the picture was before I installed the rear lights
