iron eagle heads

got a chance to buy set of iron eagles cheap. will they work with my set up ?heads are 230 runners,2.08-1.60-65 cc. motor is 406 , air gap ,10.5-1,headers, 490-490 lift cam, comp 286 i think,750 holley,411 rear gears ,2800 stall
1986 sb 406 ci
2003 mud buggy 1300 hp 528
if my wife askes it was only fifteen bucks

Hog, Sure, sounds like a good plan. One concern is the 65cc, is your engine 10.5 with this cc or what you have now? 10.5 (in a 406) is getting up there for pump gas in a relatively heavy vehicle, your going to need to be careful about detonation. If you have a true 10.5 now with 76cc heads, you better pass on the Eagles, unless you want to change pistons. If you want to make good power (which those heads will support) you need a bigger cam...240+ @ .050 duration - .550 lift or a little better, also with more overlap, the engine will be a little less prone to detonate.  My free Two cents, Lorne

I have Iron Eagles I bought new, albeit less hairy than those ones (165 runners, 72cc chambers and 1.94/1.50 valves). IMO, the 230cc runners are too large and even though you have a healthy cam and 4.11s, you might not see much below 3000-3500. Those are awfully big runners and are usually better for light-weight race-only rides that see the happy side of 7000 rpm. What heads are on it now?
85 Chevy Silverado C10 short, wide, yellow, 2wd. Lowered, 60-over 350 with Dart Iron Eagle heads and Comp Cams XE268 cam, TH350 w/ shift kit, 3.40 Gov-lok 12 bolt.

took your advise and backed away from heads ,it has stock 400 heads on it now
