Either you have air in the system or a leak. Check the clutch master and slave for evidence of fluid leakage.

???I don't see any signs of leaking and now there is no pressure at all. I have to put it in gear before starting engine. Then pressure builds up and I can get it to shift.  The fluid looks pretty dirty in the reservoir cup.  Could it be the clutch slave? Or is it possibly the pressure plates are worn out?

If you can't build pressure, you have no leaks then the clutch master is shot.

Time for a new clutch master cylinder.  Runs $40.00 from O'reilly's.  Just sold one to a guy today with an 87 V-20 with the same issue.  Fixed it right up.

Where in CT are you from?

Push the pedal down and have an assistant open then close the bleeder. Repeat until all the air is gone and keep the master full.

I'm in Wethersfield.  I finally found the bleeder on top of the slave cylinder which also need to be replaced.  After 1 hour of bleeding the system of air the clutch is working again. Better then ever.
