I have one of the older Holley analog TBI systems that I want to put on my 79 K-20 eventually. I got it used years ago(for free), but the inline fuel pump was missing. This was a complete stand alone system made to retrofit carbureted vehicles. The TBI unit and the rest of the system is a very close copy of the factory GM TBI setup. In fact, the TBI unit is sold as a bolt on replacement (with more CFM) for the factory unit.
A buddy of mine scrapped an 87 V-30 and I was looking at it yesterday. It has in tank fuel pump that looks to be in good shape. I was wondering if the stock pump/sender from the 87 would work OK with the holley setup. This isn't going to be a real hi output engine. It will be a mild 406 built for torque.
I know Carter makes a retrofit inline pump for TBI swaps that run around $150. I was planning on going that route, till I saw the pumps in that 87. I figured I may get better life and have better future availability with and OEM pump rather than a specialty aftermarket unit.
