does the ignition switch on a 1979 K10 custom deluxe with 3 speed on column have a accessory position on the ignition switch?

Yes - turn the key counterclockwise from Lock.

Yes - turn the key counterclockwise from Lock.

     You might have to push in on the key assembly a little.
#1: The easiest and most obvious solution to any problem is 99% of the time correct.

If you're having trouble getting into it,  you might need to adjust the switch on the low side of the column.
