Are you planning to use 1/8" angle or flat stock?
Personally I would lay out some 3/16" flat and bend it over like the outer side and mount it.
If they are ok height wise then yes that should work fine,I think you might have to add some kind of an extra support halfway in between though

I wish I would have seen those a few months ago when I wasted my money on these stock bucket brackets(which still didn't fit) from the junkyard. I don't have the money for those now.

I don't have the money for those now. You have Stock bucket brackets from a 73-87? The required an inner mount and Jeff has a template on his site for them.
Yeah, I got them off a 80something model, but I didn't understand why they didn't fit in the truck. I thought I had everything. Which guy is Jeff?
