i did a lot of work no this, and i will post my work soon, (senior project total over 32 hours) so can say it is non-bias, as SAE person i can say it very annoying that you doubt me, from Police reports ( in two states ID and UT over 50 tuck fatallys and no lorrys or trains) to seeing that type of cab impact the takes vary safe if the truck is made rite but is type of engineering is not! and National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing proofed that you walk a way from the crash!

Maybe you should spend more time working on your grammar skills instead of being annoyed that most of us here could care less about a media generated modern day pinto scam.

LOL.  I agree that the body structure is not up to par with modern cars and trucks in terms of crash safety.  But I think that is just common knowledge and widely accepted.  Most American cars up until the most recent models are not particularly safe.  But they're still fun to modify and drive, so carpe diem baby.  May we all go out in a firey blaze with a smile on our face.

The seats SUCK
On the pre 73 models the seats would extend to within an inch of the door panel
On the 73-up models the seat is too far away, the seat edge always sags.

The tranny crossmember is a pile of garbage on models with a Cat

I like the pre 73 rear suspension setup on the 2wd models
Long trailing arms with coil springs

Who ever designed the power steering/ AC brackets should be executed (non serpentine)
The same guy was probably responsible for the spare tire bracket/hanger/whatever the heck you want to call it.

Why do the firewalls always rust out?

We had a 73, that the seat did not fold forward. Everytime time you wanted to get something out from behind the seat, you had to move the seat forward. On this same 73 there was an extra bolt at the top center of the bellhousing, that was a royal pain to get to.

In the 73 the cab lighting sucked, there was a tiny bulb under the dash
My 82 had the same thing
What the heck was GM thinking?

Some people made out on that deal. I had an 88 jimmy that I bought dirt cheap in 91 because the paint was a mess on it.
In 92 GM painted it for free. The truck looked great so I sold it for good $$.
GM never officially called the paint issue a recall because it was not a safety issue. There was a quick story about it on the 6:00 PM news one night so the next day I went to the dealer and they agreed to paint it.

How about the converted gas to diesel 350 engine.  I never had one of these engines but I have friends that had them and they got good fuel economy but were garbage in terms of reliability.  However, I have the newer 6.2L diesel engine and it's better but notorious for cracked blocks and cracked heads.  And it was pathetic that they put this engine in front of a weak 700R4 transmission.  The original 700R4 on my Suburban went with a loud bang and it broke the case.  I ended up putting a 1990 model 700R4 and so far, it has held up.

they make a part time kit for the np203...easy to install and improves fuel economy slightly. Not to mention less wear and tear.

Someone backed into my bumper the other night, busted their taillight up, but no damage to my bumper. It was on the outside of the bumper bracket, so it should have bent. No new truck would have had the same results.
