Can anyone tell me what Chevy rear ends if any beyond 87 will fit in an 85 C10 1/2 ton as a direct bolt on?  Can you also tell me how to determine the gear ratios based on the housing markings?  THX

87-91 RV series are a direct fit. Axle ratio's aren't stamped on the housing.

What would it take to install a newer year model rear end in the C10?

The spring perches/shock mounts are in different locations. The brake lines & E-brake cables are different & depending on the year/application...maybe the wheel bolt pattern. Do-able, but no where near a bolt-in deal. Lorne

I have a 14 bolt rear out of a 454SS truck
it's about an inch narrower on each side vs the 8.5" 10 bolt from what i remember

I'll save it for another project.....
