Winow and door lock relays. Wshere are they?
« on: June 17, 2009, 04:30:16 pm »
Are they in the doors or under the dash? Because I doubt the PO knew to take them out if they were under the dash
I guess Ill hard wire them otherwise

Just picked up a Hayes manual. Should help out a lot

Can you be a little more specific on everything?

75 pickup with 84 body. Doors have power windows and locks. I was wondering where the power lock relays was that swapped polarities around to lock/unlock the doors because I think one of the previous owners cut he wires off at the doors and didnt think to keep the relays/harnesses for the windows and locks

I ended up making my own lock relay out of (4) 12v relays
I wouldve gotten done with the window and locks if I had 2 more hours of daylight to work. Guess Ill try and finish it next week

Heres the relay I made. Almost done. Can only use one lock switch though. Otherwise if you try to say unlock with the passenger door and lock with the drivers door, it will short positive to negative
Works out because the idiot hacked the passenger door switches and harness up anyway
All of the tracks and motor for the passenger door are also missing. Thats something the seller forgot to tell me  >:(

The shop manual shows mine, a single relay,(1987) behind the dash attached to the brake pedal bracket. It looks like the heat/ac ductwork would have to come out to get to the relay.

Whew. No wonder it's got a 30 amp breaker.

I took my grease gun and shot grease into all the tracks where the rollers move
I then sprayed every moving part in the door I could see with wd-40
