transfer case problem
« on: June 23, 2009, 11:36:12 am »
I have a 1984 Chezy 3/4 ton 4x4. I just put a 350 turbo transmission and transfer case in it that came out of a 1979 chevy. I didn't realize that the transfer case was for a fulltime 4x4 until after i put it in my truck. To put my truck in 2 wheel drive, i have to lock my hubs in. I'm currently trying to find another transfer case that will work. Is there a way to look at the transfer case and be able to tell if its fulltime 4x4 or for manual hubs? Ive also heard that there is a way to make a fulltime 4x4 transfer case work with manual hubs. I'm stumped here so any help or advice is greatly appreciated!! Thank You!

You need a NP 205 that came off a TH350 along with the adapter that goes between the transmission, and transfer case. Or you can buy a kit that goes into your NP 203 you just installed to convert it to part time.
The only transfer cases offered with full time was the 203.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
