DETENT CABLE(KICKDOWN CABLE FOR TH350) 1978 SILVERADO

OK! My dang detent cable BROKE!!!!  It broke at the end where it goes into the trans on my '78 Silvy 350/350!

WHERE can I get an exact replacement. I don't want a universal one!

I called O'Reilly Auto Parts. They have NEW ones for $20.00.  They also have universal ones for a temporary fix BUT who the heck would want that?

The new ones are not the same as factory.

You are correct. The NEW ones are 5 1/2" longer overall. I contacted a GM dealer and he said as long as the length from the carb mounting bracket is the same, it should work? I don't see how!  I did however install it and we'll see if it works in ANY way.  I still want an original detent cable. I believe it is GM part#1262620  OR 1262618.  PLEASE ADVISE IF ANYONE HAS A GOOD ONE!
