Ok a while ago I bought a Lokar dipstick part number 5000 to fit on my 79 K10 small block. It is a tubeless dipstick. I thought it was cool, the only problem is, when the engine is at operating temp, it is real hard to pull out. So I bought the flexible dipstick WITH tube, part number 5002.
Here is my problem...The instructions say it needs to fit into the GM factory lower dipstick tube, part number 3951600. I have searched everywhere online to find a picture of what this GM tube looks like and where it goes. A microfiche would help a lot. The length of the part I just received appears to fit right on the block and the upper part attatches to a exhaust bolt. No problem. I am guessing the GM part required is on the inside of the oil pan??? I assume this because the dipstick itself is very flexable, like cable wire, not ridged like a stock dipstick. I guess this required GM tube keeps it from swinging into the crank? I called Lokar but they are already closed.
Any GM employees...can you look up that part number and/or send me a pic of what 3951600 looks like???
