« on: December 06, 2009, 09:31:00 am »
hey, just bought this truck and im trying to right some wrongs.truck has a 4''suspension and 3''body lift.the guy left the front body mounts and put the new ones on top,not in the back though...should i just add mounts to the back or try and get the fronts out?i'm no mechanic but i've tooled around with jeeps and trucks a little,so im looking for the simplest remedy. if i try to pull the fronts'
will i have to shorten the steering rod?it's about a 1 1/2" drop.......

there should be no rubber in the rear if thats what your talking about. but if you do touch the front your steering rod will shorten itself

Are you saying his body lift is comprised of the factory mounts with new mounts on top of them? Then what's under the bed?

That doesn't make sense. If the body lift was higher in the front the bed wouldn't line up with the cab.

To me, It looks like the nose needs to drop a little.  Body lines appear to line up (looking down the side) but the gap between the bed and the cab appears to be wider on the bottom.

Take the body lift right out.

Good eye. I'm guessing part of the problem may be that the truck has new springs in the front and 25 year old springs in the rear.

Take the body lift right out.

Ditto.

Get some Zero Rates for the front (brings it up an 1") and a shackle flip or new springs for the rear.

To me it just looks like the truck was parked on a slope. Anyone else seeing this?  ???

maybe its just me but my 79 only has bushishing in the front and the bushing kit only came with bushings for the front the bed bolts right to the frame since the po put in a body lift thats all that goes in the rear and you use your bushings for the front. i don't see a problem but maybe its just me or I'm not seeing the whole picture

It looks ok....  Remember the front wheel opening is higher in the fender than the rear wheel opening.  May be an illusion.

If the truck actually sits level, you'll have a bigger gap in the front wheel well than in the rear wheel well.
