That WTH you for dreaming of White Christmas Sarge !!! Its no so bad. I do not mind the snow, but hate ice. Beleive it or not, if the wind is not blowing bad, snow weather is usually not real cold, but ice weather is. You would not think there is a differance, and maybe there isn't in other parts of the country, but usually in snowy weather in OK, its tolerable temp with a jacket and thick socks, as long as you are keeping dry. Icy weather on the other hand, is bone chilling cold, and why it actually make the ice instead of snow. It freezes rock hard so fast cuz of cold temp.

a white xmas would be nice.  Our Thursday storm is now looking like rain, though.

I just saw lightning and heard thunder.....in a blizzard!

Sgt I'm at work right now watching it fall hopefully i get relief in the morning, got my truck so i know i can get home as long as someone shows up, and its only my Monday get off wed  :'(

The last snow we got I kept seeing a blue flash in the snow while I was shoveling. Every time I looked up, the sky looked clear so I thought I was goign crazy until I looked up and actually saw the lightning. Every 30-40 seconds snow lightning! It was definitely a sight

still snowing at 830am.  I hear some sleet hit the windows, but still mainly snow.  I haven't gone out yet, but, what I can tell on the vehicles, we have about a foot. calling for more.  Witht the 25mph winds, the snow is falling nearly horizontally.

By far the biggest snow storm in December in Central Va.  In 1917 we got 10", in 1966 we got 8". In 2009, 15"+....where's Al Gore's Nobel Prize?  If I could get a replica of it I'd take a pic with this foot plus of snow in the background.  

The interstates around here are a parking lot.  These www.trafficland.com camera shots are of I 81 in the valley where the 18-wheelers cannot make it over all those hills rolling through the shenandoah. Once their wheels start spinning, that's all she wrote.  Parking lots....

they just shut down I-81, the main NY to AL corridor in the Valley, they shut down route 29, and they shut down I77, from West Va down to NC...Nat'l Guard and municpal public safety  having to rescue stranded drivers.

 a friend from work just told me they got 27.5in of snow so far ! he is in stuarts draft va. he goes by olblue2 on here. i got a bunch of pictures ill post once they are loaded! i steped out in it and sunk to my knees! tempted to throw the mother in laws poodle out in it haha

NICE!!!!  Thanks for the pics guys.  We're going to be left out of this one for the most part.  They're calling for 15-20" down in southeastern Mass (near Cape Cod), but decreasing greatly as you head north and west.  We might get 6" unless the storm track shifts inland.  Not sure, but I think Vile stands to get a foot or more.  Not snowing yet, supposed to start sometime this evening or overnight.
