I FINALLY got around to mounting my fans. I had originally ordered a Derale fan mount kit, but it wouldn't work with the fans I have, so down to the hardware store I went and got 4 feet of 3/4" 12g steel strips. (I saw some pics that Fitz posted and stole the idea) I bent the ends over and screwed them into the top and bottom of the radiator (don't worry, there is a extra lip for this purpose as you can see in the pics). I used countersink bolts and locknuts to bolt the fans to the strips. The fans came with the nylon "zip ties" and foam pads. I used the foam pads in between the steel strips and the core. It is all wired up now, I used a Derale adjustable thermostat relay kit. All I need to do now is add coolant and hook up one wire to a ignition 12v source. Ill take another pic of it all installed (it was dark when I finished).












And here is a toy truck I found in the toy box at my grandpas for when kids come over. I want to take it!

Fans installed, coolant topped off, adjusted thermostat but I need to really dial it in. Ill be keeping a screwdriver with me for awhile.

So how do you like that huge open space between the engine and radiator?  Gives you a lot more room to work and move about the engine bay.

Da67 ya its nice to have that room and not worry about cutting a finger off with the mechanical fan.

I bought two of them, cut them in half so that I could invert them and use the plugs for the quick connect.

     Beastie, I am interested on how it works after you get it all dialed in, I want to do this on my rebuild.

Its winter (even Cali gets cold) so I wont know for awhile, but the radiator itself is already overkill plus adding two 12 in fans. I dont see the fans coming on much. It works good so far, adjusted the fans to come on around 210 or so right now.

Beastie, I hope to not jinx you...using larger fans (maybe even stagered one up & one down) or some sort of a shroud to encase the whole core would be a better plan. Hopefully you will get away with it, but I'm looking at the amount of rad. core not having air pulled across it, that's quite a bit. Not to nit-pick, but just to give a "heads up" if you see a problem come the hotter weather, you may be able to just make a plenum from side to side, top to bottom. Also you have to look at the CFM rating on electric fans...they are not all rated the same way by each manufacture. Some use a box type thing with a given hole area to pull through, other manufactures just use the fan only. One word of caution, it takes amperage to turn a fan blade through air. If you see a low amp draw with a high CFM, better look at how they are "fudging" the numbers to boost sales. Lorne
