Connecting PRNDL? 1981 C10.
« on: June 21, 2010, 07:01:28 pm »
Did a quick search and didn't find anything specifically related to connecting this. ( Sorry if I over looked )

Recently I replaced my steering column because my previous was punched and the housing was damaged.

Well when I was removing the old one, I didn't take notice how I disconnected the PRNDL. I have the other column in with no problems but couldn't figure out where to hook the cable to.

Here is the picture I took from another thread ( fitz post ) to show what it looks like:

It's installed and everything, I just don't know where to connect the end of the cable. I'm at work right now or else I could try to provide more pictures.

Right on the column jacket. When you shift you'll notice the whole jacket roatates pulling on the cable.

Just anywhere on there? I think why I didn't figure that out because I was shifting the level before it was installed, so the whole column was probably spinning.

Thanks a lot, I'll have a look at it tomorrow.

You may need to relocated it a couple times to get it where you like it.  But it needs some tension when sitting in park.
