Head gasket gave it up in the 86 this morning! Didn't quite make 227,000 miles!

Are you going to grab a spare 350 from 1 of your parts trucks?

I have a low milage TBI 350 in one of them. Going to slide an RV cam, double roller chain, and a high volume pump into it. Need to get an intake to run a carb too.

Does your TBI motor have the fuel pump boss on it?

Yes I am leaving them, and it has a place for a fuel pump.

I had a head gasket give out recently myself and after a replacement and a failed head I decided to pull the motor and build a 383.

After the head gasket gave it up I was still limping it along as I only live about 4 miles from work. Figuring I would get the motor done sometime before snow. Well the clutch blew lunch and its been sitting for about a month now. Been gathering parts. I had a guy that owed me money rebuild this motor about 15 years ago. After about 700 or 800 miles the harmonic balancer fell off and munched the end of the crank where the key way goes. Its been sitting under the hood of that truck ever since. Got run about once a year. I put a new key way in, and filled the missing metal on the crank with weld. Put new rear, and front main seals. New intake, valve cover, and one piece oil pan gasket. Then I primed the bare metal with Transtars self etching primer. I painted all the rust with Chassis Saver. Then I gave it a nice fresh coat of paint. Going to try and drop it in next weekend.

As much as I am not a fan of yellow, Cat yellow makes my inner redneck heart go pitter-patter. Very nice!

Didn't you know Cat Yellow adds torque?  Looks like it does anyway.   I like it.
