94 S10 BLAZER cpi

Well its running like crap alot of fuel in the oil :'( and now only half the engine is firing all one bank the drives side. Sound like the spider injector to you?

Forgot to say that its smoking bad but its pretty much fuel coming out that's all you can smell

The EGR is probably sticking open. If it's the injector a fuel pressure gauge will reveal that quickly.

Those little clues that you forget to mention. but also when I try to turn it over it seams like once it hits a cylinder or two it wants to lock up almost like hydro lock but if you turn the engine by the crank then hit the key again it will rotate slowly(think the starter is week and due to the engine problem it isn’t helping). Not familiar with the spider but is it possible that one side be all screwed up and the other side be fine. How would a tester show if it the injector? I understand how to test the pump but not sure about the injector

you can check the cpi unit by taking the vortec cover off and removing the black circular part underneath it (the imtv) this is the easiest way to check the cpi unit because the other way to check it is to remove the whole intake plenul (which is required to chance the cpi unit)

but when you remove the black circular piece you will be able to look inside the intake plenum. it should have grime and some crud in there (or be dark in color). if it is clean and shiny on one side and not the other, that would indicate a fuel leak, there were some pictures i found a few weeks ago that were a great example of what it should/should not look like, ill see if i can find some of that info again.

i dont know the name of the company offhand but they make a replacement cpi unit that is supposed to be better than the factory one.

one last thing i just thought of, is most of the time you will hear people refer to the cpi unit as the "spider" but they also refer to the "nut kit" which is also located under the intake plenum (should be near the fuel rail that enters in the rear of the plenum)and this can leak too causing some problems.

makes sense about the leak. i think i did read something about it but it said something that the fuel would drip back to the passengers side

Check the fuel pressure - if it's bleeding down pinch the return line. If it's still bleeding down you know the injector is done for. It's more common for the egr to stick open due to carbon though so check that as well.
